CAR SEAT CLINICS & SEAT CHECKS
• Car Seat Clinics and Seat Checks • • Child Passenger Safety - 4 Steps for Kids • • Traveling Safely with Children: The Basics • • Safety Recalls, Second Hand Seats, Seats in Crashes •
DID YOU KNOW that more children are killed and injured in car crashes yearly than from any other type of injury? Using a car seat correctly can prevent many of these injuries. However, if car seats are not used correctly, serious injuries can occur. June Huston, Sartell Crime Prevention Coordinator, is a certified car seat technician. Huston completed a four-day training program in Hibbing through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Huston learned proper installation for many different types of car seats during the 32-hour car seat training. She received a Standardized Child Passenger Safety Program Certification. Child passenger safety clinics are held monthly at Gold Cross, 2800 7th St N, St. Cloud. To schedule an appointment, call 251-2700, Ext 54492. Leave a message with your name, phone number and number of seats to check. No clinic scheduled for December
Parents are asked to bring their child(ren), car seats and cars to ensure proper restraint fitting. June is also available to check car seats on an individual basis at the Sartell Police Department. She can be reached at 251-8186 to schedule an appointment. Local car seat clinics are sponsored by Gold Cross Ambulance, St. Cloud Hospital and Centra Care - Women and Children's Clinic. / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / Child passenger safety links: Minnesota's Child Passenger Safety Program National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
