Boards and Commissions

duckThere are three boards or commissions that advise and assist the City Council on City policies, procedures and operations. Throughout the board and commission members take time out of their own hectic schedules to help create a community where people are treated with respect, where people participate in building culture, character and common bonds, where business growth throughout the City is supported and a vibrant City Center is maintained, where people feel safe, support outstanding schools and celebrate cultural heritages and a community where people enjoy quality public services, parks and housing. Many of the City's decisions, policies and procedures were founded on recommendations from a board or commission.

Planning Commission

The Planning Commission consists of five members each with a term of three years. The Planning Commission makes recommendations to the City Council regarding planning issues, zoning and helps to guide the overall development of the City. The Planning Commission strives to establish balanced development in all areas of the City. Meetings are generally held on the first Monday of the month at 6:30 PM.

Economic Development Commission

The Economic Development Commission consists of nine members. The EDC is an advisory body that makes recommendations to the City Council on economic development issues and helps guide the economic development process in the community. The EDC strives to continue to create a community that offers a high quality of life for employers, employees and residents to live and raise their families. Meetings are generally held bi-monthly (Feb., April, June, Aug., Oct., Dec.) on the third Tuesday at 7:00 AM.
